A whopping 40 carats, the Lesotho III was one of 18 pieces cut from the storied 601-carat Lesotho diamond. The solitaire diamond was set on a platinum band and was sold at auction in 1996 for $2.59 million or around $4.7 million in today’s dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
