The cost of VS1 diamond clarity grades is hard to say, given that diamonds aren't priced on clarity grades alone. Many factors contribute to the overall cost of a diamond. If all of your diamond grades are high alongside a 2 carat VS1 diamond, the price of your diamond will be significantly higher. This is especially true for larger diamonds.
But if you have a 3/4 carat VS1 clarity diamond with excellent cut quality and a lower grade for color like J, it'll be less. It's much easier to cut eye clean diamonds that are smaller for engagement rings than it is to cut larger diamonds.
If you really want to save money on the cost of a VS1 diamond, you might consider a shape besides round. Round brilliant cut diamonds have the best light performance of all diamond shapes. They are also the most expensive.
Choosing another diamond shape can lessen the cost of your VS1 diamond. However, some diamond shapes may make inclusions visible and more apparent. This can be an issue with step cut diamonds, like the emerald cut shape or Asscher cuts which have a large table facet. A step cut diamond flashes, but brilliant cut diamonds sparkle.
Brilliant cut shapes are better for hiding a diamond's clarity imperfections. Your brilliant cut shapes are round, princess cut, oval, pear, radiant, and cushion cut diamonds.
You should consider purchasing VS1 lab grown diamonds. Lab grown diamonds cost significantly less than mined diamonds of the same grade. Because they're created in a lab, it'll be easier to find one that's eye clean as well. VS1 lab grown diamonds can be 20-40% less expensive than natural diamonds with VS1 clarity.
